County Executive Leopold Announces Expansion Plans for Pasadena Senior Center

'

Annapolis (December 20, 2007) - County Executive John R. Leopold announced today that Christmas will come early at the Pasadena Senior Center in the form of a long-awaited and much-needed center expansion through the St. John Properties, Inc. renovation of Lake Shore Plaza, located at 4103 Mountain Road. The company anticipates construction to begin by spring 2008.

"Anne Arundel County’s seven senior centers are thriving with activity and generate support and participation from a very active senior citizen community," said County Executive Leopold. "The Pasadena Senior Center’s expansion will only increase the entire community’s utilization of the many resources, services, and recreational activities the Department of Aging and Disabilities provides."

St. John Properties' estimated $6 million overall renovation and revitalization plan for the 161,000 square foot Lake Shore Plaza retail center calls for a new Village Main Street configuration. The project will increase the entire retail center property by approximately 7,000 square feet and the Pasadena Senior Center will expand from its existing 9,500 square foot footprint to an estimated 12,000 square feet of space.

The renovations, which will cause no disruptions of service at the Pasadena Senior Center, will include road realignment of the entrance road, improvements to pedestrian and vehicular traffic flow, and a modernized exterior facade among other enhancements.
