County Executive John R. Leopold Announces New County Web Link to 2008 General Development Plan

'

Annapolis (August 21, 2007) - Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold announced today that County Web users now have access to specific information about the County’s 2008 General Development Plan, or GDP, including opportunities to provide input and stay informed by joining an email list.

"Government should be interactive whenever and wherever possible," said County Executive Leopold. "This web link will provide a wider opportunity for county residents to engage themselves in the planning process."

The General Development Plan web link, which can be found on the County’s Web homepage, contains information for visitors such as a description of the GDP, the history of comprehensive planning, the 1997 GDP, what’s new for 2008, contact information for public input, and instructions for subscribing to the GDP 2008 email list.

Anne Arundel County’s GDP is a comprehensive land use plan that establishes policies and recommendations to guide land use over the next 10 to 20 years. The plan, which is in compliance with State requirements and guidelines, is used by the County in making decisions on land preservation, growth, development, and resource protection.

"Revision of the GDP is a priority of my administration in order to manage growth in a responsible way," said County Executive Leopold. "The Website is an important link to the community to provide for maximum public input in the revision process."
