| Annapolis (May 9, 2007) - The Anne Arundel County Department of Health warns against direct water contact for Furnace Creek in Glen Burnie due to an 80,000-gallon wastewater force main break that occurred Wednesday, May 9. For several years, Furnace Creek has been closed for swimming and other direct water contact by the Department of Health due to consistently high bacteria levels.
The Department of Health has posted warning signs around the creek. The Department advises anyone coming in contact with the water in Furnace Creek to wash well with soap and warm water immediately. Clothing should also be washed.
