The Department of Public Works Reports a Significant Water Main Break in Edgewater

'

Intersection of Mitchell’s Chance Road and Braverton Road Closed Through Friday, August 3, 2007

Annapolis (August 2, 2007) - The Department of Public Works discovered a significant water main break at the intersection of Mitchell’s Chance Road and Braverton Road late Thursday. The break which was isolated later in the evening has been identified as significant due to the 12" intersecting mains at this location.

The intersection of Mitchell’s Chance Road and Braverton Road has been closed and will remain closed during the day Friday, August 3, 2007. Motorists that normally use this route are asked to avoid the intersection and advised to take an alternate route on Friday, August 3, 2007.

Repair Crew personnel are currently working to make the needed repairs. Water is expected to be restored by midnight Thursday. However, residents and businesses in the South River Colony area will experience low water pressure due to the significant loss of stored water resulting from the break. Residents in the area are asked to conserve water usage.

Once water is restored to the area, residents may experience rust colored water which is due to naturally occurring sediment in the water pipes. Run water until clear before drinking, cooking, or using for laundry.
