'

Annapolis (September 12, 2007)- Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold announced today that effective September 17, Kenneth Schlein will become a Community Services Officer for District 31 with the county’s Office of Community and Constituent Services.

"Having worked with Ken Schlein for 20 years on a variety of police-community issues, I know first hand his commitment to public service," said County Executive Leopold. "Ken Schlein shares my priority interest in constituent service, and I am confident that he will be an asset to the Administration."

Mr. Schlein is a 32-year veteran of the Anne Arundel County Police Department, where he recently retired in January of this year as a Lieutenant & Platoon Commander assigned to Western District Field Operations. His extensive career with the police department included experience within the department’s Community Relations Division where he served as guest speaker at community and business forums, coordinated community-oriented policing, managed the DARE program, and initiated the department’s first bicycle patrol program.

A Pasadena resident, Schlein holds an associates degree in arts from Anne Arundel Community College and more than 20 years of leadership and administrative experience.
