County Executive John R. Leopold Donates Backpacks to Boys and Girls Clubs of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County

Annapolis (September 14, 2007) - County Executive John R. Leopold donated 400 backpacks to the Boys and Girls Club’s Second Annual Day for Kids, which will be held tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club main office at Wiley H. Bates Heritage Park.

"We continue to strengthen our partnerships with private entities that provide much needed mentoring and support to children in our community," said County Executive Leopold. "It is a priority of this Administration to be at the forefront of community initiatives that embrace children and families."

Upon registration at the event tomorrow, every child that signs up for the Boys and Girls Club will receive a free backpack compliments of the County Executive’s Office of Central Services.

In its second year, the annual Day for Kids is free and will focus on bringing parents and children together to encourage them to regularly participate in family activities such as games, crafts, and making healthy snacks. Attendees can expect to see representatives from Anne Arundel County Department of Health, Anne Arundel Community College, Johns Hopkins University, Anne Arundel County Public Library, and Historic Londontown and Gardens, among others.
