County Executive Owens Adds Almost Two Million Dollars to the General Fund

'

Annapolis, MD (July 12, 2006) - Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens announced that $1,920,000 along with interest was deposited into the County’s General Fund on Tuesday. The deposit was from the sale of the County’s Southern District Police Station on April 18, 2006.

"This sale was historic, the first time ever the County auctioned a prime piece of commercial real estate," said County Executive Owens. "Now we have returned a piece of surplus property to the County real property tax assessment rolls, while adding almost $2,000,000 to the County’s General Fund."

The property sold to Mr. George Criswell included the building, which is approximately 6,600 square feet along with more than 1.162 acres of land.

While the property sold for $1,920,000, a 5% Buyer's Premium for the Auctioneer brought the total contract to $2,016,000.
