Northbound lanes impacted by water line installation
Annapolis (March 10, 2006) - Contractors working for the Department of Public Works (DPW) will close one section of Piney Orchard Parkway in Odenton beginning next week in order to install a 36” water transmission main. The northbound lanes of Piney Orchard Parkway between Waugh Chapel Road and Old Waugh Chapel Road will be closed to all traffic between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for the next five weeks, weather permitting.
Northbound traffic will be redirected onto a travel lane of southbound Piney Orchard Parkway where a two-way traffic system will be in place during the hours of construction. Motorists are advised to exercise caution during construction and be aware of traffic control measures.
This water transmission main project is part of the County’s continuing effort to strengthen the water distribution system for its customers. Once complete, DPW will have the ability to redirect water when necessary and reduce its dependence on water supplies from outside the County.
This phase of the transmission main connects to an existing 36-inch diameter water main in Waugh Chapel Road at Chapelgate Drive that comes from the Crofton Water Treatment Plant. The current construction is 5,800 feet on Waugh Chapel Road and Piney Orchard Parkway and ends on Piney Orchard Parkway at the intersection with Old Waugh Chapel Road. The construction cost for this phase is $2,475,573.
