Annapolis, MD (November 9, 2006) - Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens announced the Housing Commission of Anne Arundel County was recently honored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Designation of a High Performer for excellent administration, was giving to the County’s Housing Choice Voucher Program for fiscal year 2006. "I am extremely proud of the high rating and just as proud of the commission and staff," said County Executive Owens. "Their hard work helping seniors, individuals and families in public housing is often times overlooked." The designation is awarded after an assessment of 15 key indicators are considered as benchmarks for a vibrant and healthy program. These benchmarks review essential administrative functions such as utilization of program funds, inspection of subsidized homes, enforcement of program requirements and the implementation of strategies to de-concentrate subsidies in certain areas of the county. "We are excited to be able to provide this important program to more than 1,650 families in the county, said Housing Commission Executive Director Larry Loyd. "We are honored to receive the designation and will strive to continue to provide the best level of service to these families." This is the fourth consecutive year the agency has received this honor. |
