8th Annual Emergency Preparedness and GIS Open House

'

The Anne Arundel County, Office of Emergency Management invites the public to attend the 8th Annual Emergency Preparedness and GIS Open House Day on Saturday, December 9, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  This years’ open house will be located in the new Henry L. Hein public services building located at 7480 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie.

This will be an information-packed family day to see first hand how Anne Arundel County is using exciting Geographic Information System technology.  In the past, many of the demonstrations were related to land use issues. New, this year, GIS Day will feature Emergency preparedness and public safety applications of GIS technology.

Visitors will be encouraged to learn how to prepare themselves and their families for various types of emergencies.  In addition to learning basic emergency preparedness, attendees will learn how to obtain information during times of emergency and will have the opportunity to tour the new Emergency Operations Center.

In addition to the Office of Emergency Management, exhibitors at the event will include representatives from Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), the Anne Arundel County Department of Health, Office of Information and Technology, Fire and Police Departments, City of Annapolis, Animal Control, Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service, Citizen Communication, and the Department of Public Works, among others.

For further information, please visit the County website at www.aacounty.org or call the Office of Emergency Management at (410) 222-0600.
