Annapolis, MD (November 13, 2006) - Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens announced the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial reporting has been awarded to the Anne Arundel County Retirement and Pension System. "This is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting," said County Executive Owens. "This is a real accomplishment and I commend Bill Brown and the Controller’s office for their hard work creating the Report for the Pension Plans." The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence for the Pension Plans for the Year Ended December 31, 2005. The comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR. This is the first time the Pension Plan CAFR received this award. |
