Anne Arundel County Named in the Top Ten Digital Counties Nationwide Two Years Running

'

Annapolis, MD (July 25, 2006) - For the second year in a row Anne Arundel County's website is one of the top ten best in the nation, ranking 8th in the 2006 Digital Counties Survey for populations of more than 500,000.

"The County is able to accomplish a great deal within its fiscal appropriation. This is a team effort and everyone in the County should be proud of this digital distinction," said Information Technology Officer Bill Ryan.

In April, all counties in the United States were invited to participate in the 2006 Digital Counties Survey. County officials responded to questions that included more than 100 measurements and data points about online service delivery, infrastructure, architecture and governance models.

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government. A private organization based in Folsom, Calif., helps to effectively incorporate new technologies in the 21st century.
