Critical Area Public Meeting Rescheduled

Annapolis (June 29, 2006) - The Land Use and Environment Office has rescheduled the Critical Area Program Update public meeting for Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at South River High School in Edgewater. The meeting, previously scheduled for Tuesday, June 28, 2006, was cancelled due to impending severe weather.

The public is invited to attend this meeting to learn more about the proposed legislation and provide input. The meeting in Edgewater is the third of three meetings that were scheduled. Public meetings have already been held in Glen Burnie, on June 20, and Arnold on June 21.

The draft legislation seeks to include provisions requested by the Critical Area Commission and to bring further certainty to the requirements applicable in the critical area. The legislation favors simple, clear, and reasonable requirements that fully protect the critical area.

For further information, the public is encouraged review a copy of the draft legislation and a memorandum that explains it.
