Annapolis (May 3, 2005) - To further strengthen the Police Department, County Executive Janet S. Owens’ proposed FY 2006 budget includes funding for 14 new police officers and $1 million to accelerate the installation of mobile data computers in each and every police vehicle.

"Every day, our police officers put their lives on the lines to protect us. We must give them the tools they need to do the job. That’s why I have accelerated the installation of mobile data computers for each and every police vehicle," Ms. Owens said.

The County Executive’s budget also advances funding for the Western District Police Station from Fiscal Year 2007 to Fiscal Year 2006 to provide the space necessary to meet the growing needs of this expanding area of Anne Arundel County.
