Annapolis, MD (November 4, 2005) - Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens announced today, the kickoff of this years "County Executive/County Councilperson for a day" and Model Government Program. The contest is open to all 11th grade students who live in Anne Arundel County. Eight students will be chosen to take over the County government for a day, and fill the duties of the County Executive and County Council. In addition, another 30 entrants will be given the opportunity to serve the Model Government Administration as Department Heads, Police and Fire Chief and key members of the Executive Staff. The process is simple: entrants must submit a short essay describing what they want to accomplish if given the chance to serve Anne Arundel County Government. Letters have been mailed to principals and counselors at all public and private secondary schools, and application forms can be found at the bottom of this page. Entries must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2005. The exchange of positions will occur on Tuesday, February 21, 2006.
