"Leaf" it to DPW…They’ve got it in the bag Annapolis (October 21, 2005) - Just in time for nature’s colorful display of the County’s beautiful, deciduous trees, the Department of Public Works today launched its leaf disposal public information campaign. The campaign, "Leaf" it to Us, We’ve got it in the Bag, is aimed at reminding the public that leaves should be bagged and put at curbside for recycling rather than raked into the street, curbline, or ditches. >> Need Re-leaf from leaves? Video "Leaves left in the street, storm drains, and gutters become a flooding and roadway hazard, provide habitat for insects, such as mosquitoes that may carry West Nile Virus, and contribute to nutrient pollution in the County waterways," said Rhody Holthaus, Chief of the Bureau of Highways. "Recycling leaves will result in cleaner, safer, more enjoyable communities and recreations areas." To learn more about the County’s convenient leaf recycling program, please visit the Waste Management website, view an informational video on Channel 98, or call us at (410) 222-7582.
