Anne Arundel County Initial Deployment to Louisiana Extended

'

Annapolis, MD (September 16, 2005)- The initial deployment of Anne Arundel County employees and its Mobile Command and Communications Unit will be extended. According to Anne Arundel County Fire Division Chief Michael O’Connell, the 15 employees that were deployed Monday, September 5, 2005 to Jefferson Parish, Louisiana will be rotated this weekend. Chief O’Connell says, “ The initial deployment was for two weeks, and that will be extended to the end of the month. Officials are trying to get the schools back open with a target date of the end of October, and because a lot of our clinics are in elementary schools, that would be a reasonable date for the end of our mission.”

Chief O’Connell will stay on as the Communications Support Team leader in Louisiana, with the employee rotation most likely happening this Sunday. Chief O’Connell says eight new employees will be sent to the Gulf Region on the next aircraft.
