(Glen Burnie, MD October 5, 2004) -- The Centre at Glen Burnie proudly welcomes its newest addition! Target will officially open its doors at the mall on Sunday, October 10, 2004. To celebrate, Petrie Ventures, who acquired the mall from Simon Property Group in 2002, is holding a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on October 5, 2004 to include Janet S. Owens (County Executive), Council Person Pam Beidle (District 1), and Bill Badger (President, Anne Arundel County Economic Development Corporation), and Walt Petrie (Chairman, Petrie Ventures) as speakers. The Centre at Glen Burnie has been in the midst of redevelopment since it was purchased by Petrie Ventures, Inc. of Annapolis, Maryland in August 2002. The redevelopment is focused on making substantial improvements to the mall's interior and exterior. In addition, Petrie Ventures is in the process of adding a host of new retailers to create exciting new activity and vibrancy for the mall. |
The new 123,735 square foot Target will join anchors Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods and Toys 'R' Us as well as 31 specialty stores currently open for business. Tenants Chick-fil-A, Bennigan's and Salvo Auto Parts opened up within the past year and new tenants will be announced this fall. Support from the County and local government officials have been vital to this part of the commercial corridor revitalization effort in Anne Arundel County. Badger are committed to improving and redeveloping aging property in Anne Arundel County and have made this redevelopment a most positive experience. Without their help we could have never brought Target to the Centre at Glen Burnie," said Walt Petrie, Chairman of Petrie Ventures. "Target is another wonderful addition to the Glen Burnie Mall (now called the Centre at Glen Burnie). I know that residents of North County will welcome these new and exciting retail and entertainment choices to their community," said County Executive Janet Owens at a press conference last year announcing the Target. "Petrie Ventures has made a major investment in the revitalization of our area." |
