County Public Water System Meets all State, Federal Standards in 2003

Annapolis, Md. (June 23, 2004) - Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works' in its six annual Drinking Water Quality Report announced water produced and distributed by the County in 2003 met all federal and state standards.  The report summarizes the results of 45,500 analyses performed on over 13,100 samples of drinking water throughout the year.

"Once again our Bureau of Utility Operations has demonstrated their dedication to excellence when it comes to producing abundant supplies of safe, clean drinking water for our customers," stated County Executive Janet S. Owens.

As a result of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1996, water utilities communicate the results of tests performed on public drinking water to consumers in an annual report.  Throughout June, a copy of the report is mailed to direct bill customers. Copies are available at all branches of the County library and by calling Public Works' Customer Relations at 410-222-7582.

In 2003 Public Works delivered over 11 billion gallons of clean safe drinking water to approximately 400,000 consumers.
