Real World Parenting - Challenges and Solutions

'

Annapolis (September 29, 2004) - Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens and the Anne Arundel County Commission for Women are presenting a parenting forum on November 6, 2004, at the Arundel Center from 8:30 am to 1:00 p.m.

"Real World Parenting - Challenges and Solutions" will feature Susan Reimer as the keynote speaker.  Panel and breakout sessions, directed by local experts, will address challenging aspects of raising children at various developmental stages.  This forum is the first in a series sponsored by the Commission to heighten awareness and promote discussion on subjects of importance to women and families.

The Anne Arundel County Commission for Women, created in 1975, is comprised of sixteen women appointed to two-year terms by the County Executive, and serves as a resource and advocacy group for issues of significance to women.  The current Commissioners are a diverse group of women living in various parts of the county, and employed in a variety of occupations, who bring their own expertise and dedication to helping enrich the lives of women and their families in Anne Arundel County.

The current chair of the Commission is Barbara Huston of Severna Park. The forum, sponsored by AACC Family Outreach Network, Anne Arundel County Public Libraries, Delta Sigma Theta - NACAC, North Arundel Hospital, and the YWCA, is open to the public.  Pre-registration is required.  In lieu of a registration fee, participants are asked to bring canned and dry goods to be donated to area food banks. For more information, please call (410) 421-9104.
