County Executive Thanks Board For Program Open Space Funds Annapolis (December 27, 2004) - The State of Maryland Board of Public Works approved $350 thousand in Program Open Space funding for the Downs Park Renovation/Fishing Pier project. The project includes the construction of a 300-foot, ADA accessible fishing pier and other park enhancements. “I would like to thank the Board for their approval of this extremely important project,” said County Executive Janet S. Owens. “These funds will help to improve the quality of our parks and recreation for each of our citizens.” Downs Park is situated on 245 acres along the Chesapeake Bay and offers a variety of natural and recreational activities. The Park offers more than five miles of paved and natural trails, including a self-guided nature trail. It also has a children’s playground, four handball courts, two ball fields, two tennis courts and three basketball courts. The following Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks facilities allow fishing. Special rules may apply. |
