Video to Air on Government Access Channel - County Executive Salutes Residents for Their Resilience Annapolis (September 17, 2004) - As the one year anniversary of Tropical Storm Isabel approaches, the County will begin airing a video on the government access channel featuring a photo montage of the damage left behind and residents working to rebuild. The video will air on Channel 98 beginning Friday evening, September 17, 2004. A message from the County Executive accompanies the photos and states, "County Executive Janet S. Owens salutes the residents of Anne Arundel County for their resilience as they recover from Tropical Storm Isabel on this one year anniversary. Emergencies can come in many forms and occur when they're least expected. The County Executive encourages all residents to prepare. Take a moment to review your emergency preparedness plans and put together a disaster supply kit. A year after Tropical Storm Isabel, 30 families are still living in FEMA-issued trailers as they work to rebuild from the storm. Tropical Storm Isabel damaged many businesses and 2,300 homes in the County. One hundred fifty of those homes had severe damage. Two thousand three hundred forty-four residents applied for federal aid. To date, the storm has cost the County government $3,713,700.88. |
