
| Annapolis (November 17, 2004) - Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens will honor Department of Public Works employee Herbert B. Stevenson for his years of dedicated service to the citizens of the County. Mr. Stevenson had a perfect work attendance record in 2003 and has only used 25.2 hours of sick leave over his three-decade plus career. “On behalf of the citizens of Anne Arundel County, I thank Mr. Stevenson for his years of hard work and dedication,” Ms. Owens said. “Mr. Stevenson a special employee that puts in an honest day’s work and is not afraid to play hurt once in awhile.” |
Mr. Stevenson has also accumulated 4,174.8 hours of disability over his career. If the County provided employees with 15 days of disability leave per year during his entire time of employment, he could have accumulated 4,200 hours at his 35-year mark. Based on a 40-hour workweek, Mr. Stevenson has worked at least 72,774 work hours of a possible 72,800. Ms. Owens will take Mr. Stevenson to lunch on Friday at Paul’s on the South River. Over 100 employees, including Mr. Stevenson, were honored this month for perfect work attendance. Forty-three employees were recognized for accumulating 1,500 hours of disability leave, 27 for accumulating 2,000 hours, 10 for 2,500 hours and 8 for 3,000 hours. The Perfect Attendance Awards Program encourages employee attendance and honors those who have met the criteria for the program. To receive a Perfect Attendance Award, an employee cannot use any disability leave for a calendar year. Mr. Herbert B. Stevenson started his career with Anne Arundel County on August 6, 1969 as an Apprentice, Plant Operator. Since that time, he has held the following position titles: - 7/31/72 - promotion to Sr. Plant Operator

- 9/29/80 - title change to Water Plant Operator III
- 4/2/93 - promotion to Utilities Mechanic II
