Disabilities Awareness Day Features Exhibits, Entertainment and Information

Annapolis (September 9, 2004) - Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens will present awards to local businesses that have demonstrated their commitment to the community's citizens with disabilities at the County Commission on Disability Issues' Annual Disability Awareness Day.  The event will take place on September 14, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Arundel Mills Mall.

The festivities will also serve as a tribute to the memory of former Commission member, Vicki Snyder. Ms. Snyder, who suffered from Cystic Fibrosis, was a prominent businesswomen and local champion for disability issues.  A former recipient of the County Health Fitness Award, Ms. Snyder surpassed the doctor's prediction of a childhood death by committing herself to a healthy lifestyle, daily exercise and proper nutrition.
