Brock Bridge Road Utility Work to Begin Monday

'

Annapolis (August 27, 3004) - Beginning Monday, Brock Bridge Road will be closed to through traffic from Dorsey Run Road to Whiskey Bottom Road due to construction of a wastewater force main.  Through traffic, as well as local traffic bound for destinations beyond the closure, must follow a signed detour using Whiskey Bottom Road, US Route 1, Maryland Route 32, and Dorsey Run Road. Local road residents and their visitors, emergency vehicles, school buses, and local trash pick-up vehicles will be able to pass through the closed portion of the roadway; all other traffic must follow the detour.

The contractor, Corman Construction, Inc. of Annapolis Junction, will start at Dorsey Run Road and proceed towards Whiskey Bottom Road. In the actual work area, the roadway will be reduced to one lane in width. The work area will proceed toward Whiskey Bottom Road at a pace of about 800' a week.  The location of the road closure will be posted on signs at each end of the roadway, and property owners along Brock Bridge Road will be notified before each shift in the closure location.

The force main is being installed under a Utility Agreement between the developer, Konterra Limited Partnership, and Anne Arundel County to serve the Annapolis Junction project.  Konterra Limited Partnership is funding this project.

The road restrictions and periodic lane closures are expected to be completed by the end of December 2004, weather permitting. For further information regarding the lane closures and travel restrictions, the public may contact Christina Sabolcik, at Corman Construction, Inc. at (410) 792-9400.
