Annapolis, Md. (July 1, 2003) - Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works' in its fifth annual Drinking Water Quality Report announced water produced and distributed by the county in 2002 met all state and federal standards. The report summarizes the results of 45,000 analyses performed on more than 13,000 samples of drinking water throughout the year. "Once again our public utility has met the challenge of producing and distributing clean, safe drinking water of the highest quality to our citizens. The importance of this precious resource is immeasurable. Each drop of drinking water flowing from our taps is a testament to the dedication of our outstanding and dedicated utility workers in the county," County Executive Janet S. Owens said. As a result of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1996, water utilities communicate the results of tests performed on public drinking water to consumers in an annual report. Throughout June, a copy of the report is mailed to direct billed customers. Copies are available at all branches of the county library and by calling Public Works' Customer Relations at 410-222-7582. In 2002 Public Works delivered over 12 billion gallons of clean, safe drinking water to approximately 360,000 consumers. |
