Two Lanes of Traffic to be Maintained at All Times

ANNAPOLIS (June 18, 2003) - The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced that construction of the Severn Road improvement project will begin in July. The project will provide a new road surface, improved drainage, enhanced sight visibility and a new sidewalk connection between Elberta Drive and the south side of Carriage Drive.

Work crews will be working Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. During construction, two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times. The lanes may be narrow, with different patterns, barriers and extensive signing. Variable Message Boards will also be utilized to alert motorists to the changing traffic conditions. To ensure the safety of workers and drivers through the work area, advisory speeds have been recommended.

There will be no impact to water/wastewater service. Normal service will be maintained at all times.

Completion of the project is expected in December.
