Leadership in Land Use Laws and Policies Featured Annapolis (November 20, 2003) - Today, Anne Arundel County officials hosted a delegation of approximately 30 mayors from Jiangsu Province, China. Robert Walker, Chief Administrative Officer and Acting Land Use Officer represented County Executive Janet S. Owens. One of several stops in the United States, the delegation met with Anne Arundel County land use officials in order to learn more about planning and public involvement in the process. During the briefing, Robert Walker fielded questions from the group in reference to funding mechanisms, the operating and capital budgets and interface between the State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis. "We are, of course, honored that the delegation chose Anne Arundel County for a visit," said Mr. Walker. "I was very pleased to have the opportunity to share our successes and challenges in managing local government policies and issues with these leaders. We have learned a great deal from this delegation and others simply through the exchange of dialogue and ideas." The group will be leaving the area this evening and flying to New Orleans, Louisiana for the next stop in their tour. |
