Cox Creek and Maryland City Water Reclamation Facilities Recognized ANNAPOLIS (June 19, 2003) - Anne Arundel County received two Association of Metropolitan Sewer Agencies' (AMSA) prestigious Platinum Award for anti-pollution efforts at the Cox Creek and Maryland City wastewater treatment plants. The AMSA Platinum Award honors member facilities that have achieved 100% compliance with national pollutant discharge permits for five consecutive years. This is the second Platinum Award for the two facilities - the equivalent of ten consecutive years without a single violation. The Broadneck and Broadwater wastewater facilities won Gold Awards for 100% compliance for an entire calendar year. "We work extremely hard to achieve a level of success that far exceed minimum environmental standards," said County Executive Janet S. Owens. "These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our DPW management and staff." "Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works is truly among an elite group of honorees," said Paul Pinault, AMSA President. Representatives of the County's Utility Operations attended the awards luncheon recently to accept the awards. Anne Arundel County is routinely among the nation's top AMSA award winners. |
