PAC FAQs

The following is a listing of important information you should know before you start work:

  • You must secure a Building Permit BEFORE you start work on any building construction, or alteration for any repairs involving structural replacement.
  • The application must be submitted on the appropriate permit form furnished by the Permit Application Center.
Applications may be rejected and returned for failure to furnish all the necessary information as required on the application.
  • If plumbing, mechanical, or electrical work is to be installed, a separate trade permit is required.
County Code requires that all trade work be done under the supervision of the appropriate Master Plumber, Master Mechanic, and/or Master Electrician licensed in Anne Arundel County.
  • The approved permit must be displayed immediately in a prominent position at the site. The permit will be compared by the building inspector with his record of the approved permit.
  • The exact location where the building will be erected, demolished, repaired or altered must be given on the application.
  • The cost of construction must include present market cost of lumber and / or other materials and the full cost of labor. The full cost must be shown on the application.
