Fireworks Displays

A person must obtain a permit to discharge fireworks as required by Maryland Public Safety Article, Title 10, 10-103 and 104. Application to the Maryland State Fire Marshal for a permit must be made at least 10 days before the date of discharge. The State Fire Marshal can be contacted at 1 (800) 525-3124

The site for the display must be inspected and approved by the Anne Arundel County Fire Marshal Division. Contact the Fire Marshal Division at (410) 222-7884 to arrange for an inspector to meet a representative at the site for an inspection. The original fireworks application form with one copy must be on site for the inspection.

Upon approval of the site by the County Fire Marshal, the Fire Marshal will sign the application form and the applicant must then return the form to the State Fire Marshal Office.

On the date of the display within two hours of the time of display, an inspection of the site will be made by the Anne Arundel County Fire Marshal to verify that:

  1. The shooter is properly certified by the State Fire Marshal Office
  2. The site previously approved at the time of application is intended to be utilized
  3. The display site, the shooter and proper procedures are in place in accordance with NFPA standards
  4. The weather conditions are appropriate for the display

See Public Safety Article, Title 10, Subtitle 1.
