Fire Department Building Sprinkler/Standpipe Connections

   

Fire Department connections to automatic sprinkler and standpipe systems shall be located in accordance with NFPA 13 and/or NFPA 14, unless an alternative location is approved by the authority having jurisdiction. Fire Department connections shall be located within 100 feet of a paved surface accessible to Fire Department apparatus. Fire Department connections shall be within 100 feet of a fire hydrant.

All Fire Department connections to standpipes, automatic sprinkler systems, fire suppression water supplies, and other fire protection equipment, shall be marked in accordance with NFPA 170, Standard for Fire Safety Symbols, 2002 Edition, such that the sign or other approved marking is readily visible by approaching fire apparatus.
