Leadership Development Program

In 2009 newly proposed curricula will be piloted, Training Unit staff will offer training programs throughout the calendar year.  It is our intention to deliver training that will provide non-supervisory staff with the skills necessary to promote a positive organizational culture through principled leadership practices.  By providing training that focuses on the unique skills that correctional supervisor’s must posses, we can successfully manage our agency’s most valuable resource – its people. This Leadership Development Training Program allows participants to assess their personal leadership styles and set specific goals for a career development plan.  This program is geared to groom future leaders to work in all aspects of corrections. The goal of the training is to enable participants to better assess the challenging dynamics of the organizational culture and their role as leaders within it.


The Leadership Development Training Program contains the following courses and lessons:

  • Managing the Multigenerational Workforce in Corrections
  • Communications – Managing Difficult People
  • Transitioning to Leadership
  • The Dynamics of Leadership/Leadership Style
  • Communications – Coaching and Encouraging Performance
  • The Golden Rules of Meeting Management
  • Project Management
  • Advanced Report Writing
