EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH - April 2008
Steven Darr, Officer - JRDC

 

Officer Steven Darr was assigned to JRDC’s Intake Housing Unit on April 30, 2008 when he called his supervisor to report he had found suspected marijuana.  Officer Darr had witnessed an inmate awaiting a closed circuit bail review being passed an envelope from another inmate.  He intercepted the envelope and discovered it contained several bail bondsman phone numbers cut up into business-size cards and a small amount of suspected marijuana wrapped in plastic wrap.

A formal search was conducted of the inmate’s cell and another six bags of suspected marijuana cigarettes and matches were found.  Officer Darr’s vigilance and follow-through led to this very significant discovery that contraband that had been smuggled into the facility.

With demonstrated dedication and professionalism, Officer Darr has proven himself to be a credit to the Bureau of Security Operations, the Jennifer Road Detention Center and the Anne Arundel County Department of Detention Facilities.
