Mr. Michael Maxwell has been employed with the Department of Detention Facilities for 10 years. He began as a Detention Officer and was later promoted to the position of Correctional Program Specialist II assigned to Classification, then to Intake Services. Since February of 2007 he has been assigned to the Pretrial Supervised Release Unit where he serves as case manager for defendants on two levels of pretrial supervised release. Mr. Maxwell also serves as an Adjunct Instructor for the Department’s Training Unit and is a member of the Gangs Committee. Since assignment to Pretrial Supervised Release he has experience staff shortages, new program implementation, and changes to the client database. In the summer of 2008, a retirement, a resignation and extended family leave reduced the Unit’s staff by 60%. Rather than complain or take leave himself, Mr. Maxwell’s response was to work harder, smarter and longer. Throughout this period he has received many Thank You notes and notes of appreciation from District and Circuit Court personnel, treatment providers, co-workers and clients. In addition, Mr. Maxwell served as Field Trainer to new Case Managers and in the absence of the supervisor, served as Acting Manager for the Unit. With a pleasant attitude, professional demeanor, and demonstrated commitment to ensuring that the Jennifer Road Detention Center maintains its commitment to excellence, Mr. Maxwell’s performance reflects great credit upon himself, and the Anne Arundel County Department of Detention Facilities. Congratulations Michael Maxwell! |
