SUPERINTENDENT'S AWARD FOR JOB EXCELLENCE

Officer Anthony Branch
Jennifer Road Detention Center
March 2008

On January 4, 2008 while conducting a security round on JRDC’s Intake Housing Unit, Officer Anthony Branch discovered an inmate hanging by a sheet tied to the air vent in his cell. He immediately called for medical assistance, then held the inmate up to relieve pressure while another Officer retrieved an emergency cutting tool. Officer Branch cut the inmate down and laid him on his back on the cell floor, initiating and continuing chest compressions until relieved. 

Officer Branch is commended for his quick and conscientious efforts to save the life of an inmate.

Officer Paul Loiacono
Jennifer Road Detention Center

In January 2008, Officer Paul Loiacono was assigned to JRDC’s Intake Housing Unit when he noticed that an inmate appeared to be disoriented. He assessed the inmate and requested a nurse respond. The inmate then fell to the floor and Officer Loiacono checked his vital signs. Recognizing  the inmate’s condition to be grave, he that another Officer call 911. Simultaneously, he started life saving measures that included CPR and use of the AED. He continued life saving measures until paramedics arrived, then assisted them in their efforts.

In February, Officer Loiacono assisted during another emergency medical situation.  Hearing a request over the radio for 911, Officer Loiacono quickly accessed the AED and reported to the area within two minutes. He began assisting in providing CPR by performing chest compressions, continuing until he relieved by paramedics.

Officer Loiacono is commended for his quick and conscientious efforts to save the lives of two inmates.

Dana White
Correctional Records Clerk
Jennifer Road Detention Center
August 2008

Ms. Dana White has been a valuable asset to the Records Unit during on-going staffing shortages.  Not only has Ms. White volunteered to work late to cover vacancies and absences, she has also been the most productive Correctional Records Clerk in completing updates to court records through the first half of 2008. In addition to her productivity, the quality of her work has been impeccable.
