Remember the excitement of the first day of school? Your new notebooks, pencils and backpack?
Share that memory by assisting a child who needs help getting ready for the next school year. For over 25 years we have helped elementary school children who qualify for Federal Lunch assistance in Anne Arundel County.
The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services partners with Anne Arundel County Public Schools to help more than 4,500 children.
Here’s how the program works:
Donors (individuals, businesses, churches, schools, organizations, and groups) are matched with children in need of school supplies and are provided a standardized list of the required supplies. The donors purchase supplies and backpacks and deliver the items to the Guidance Office at the elementary schools the 2nd week in August.
On average, school supplies cost between $50 and $75, depending upon the child’s grade in school.
