Anne Arundel County participates in cooperative cost share agreements with the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) Gypsy Moth Suppression and Mosquito Control Programs. Activities supported under these two agencies seek to improve the quality of life in Anne Arundel County citizens by providing professionally managed protection against the threat of property damage, nuisance and potential personal harm that these insects may present. This is achieved through the selection of integrated pest management standards and decision processes. Both separately-run programs are managed by MDA. Gypsy Moth Suppression in Anne Arundel County is facilitated through MDA’s Southern District Forest Pest Management Office located in Cheltenham, Maryland. MDA’s Forest Pest Management Office is responsible for identifying potential problem populations and for determining the appropriate treatment response. The office number is (301) 782-7155.
