Guardrail Repair

The Bureau of Highways is responsible for maintaining 275,000  feet of guardrail along County-maintained roadways.  Guardrail that is damaged as a result of traffic accidents or weather related tree damage would be repaired or replaced to insure the safety of the traveling public.  The Road Operations Districts make the initial investigation for guardrail repair and make the area safe until a permanent repair can be completed by a contractor.  Permanent repairs are prioritized based on severity.  The Bureau's Infrastructure Management Division oversees the completion of the permanent repair.

Requests for new guardrail installation will be reviewed by the Bureau’s Traffic Engineering Division.  Please visit our  Traffic Operations webpage for for complete information regarding this service.

Requests for guardrail repair or replacement should be directed to the appropriate road district. Road districts are open from 7:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A supervisor will investigate the damage within one week (one day if it is a hazard), make the area safe, and refer the problem to the Infrastructure Management Division for permanent repairs.  A representative from that division will keep you informed of the status of your request.
