Annapolis, Maryland (May 15, 2014) — Due to expected heavy rain and thunderstorms, as well as the potential for flooding, the Anne Arundel County Bike To Work Day event scheduled to take place tomorrow, May 16, has been cancelled. This includes the rally slated for 7:30-9 a.m. at the Market House at Annapolis City Dock. Residents who still wish to ride their bikes to work are encouraged to use caution, and can review safety tips for cycling in the rain at www.bike2workcentralmd.com.
Bike to Work Day is an opportunity for bicyclists and other interested county residents to show their support for cleaner modes of transportation, safer bicycling and healthier lifestyles. This is the 17th year that the event has been held in the Baltimore Region. The Annapolis Regional Transportation Management
Association (ARTMA) and Bicycle Advocates of Annapolis and Anne Arundel
County (BikeAAA) invite you to join Annapolis Mayor Mike Pantelides and Anne Arundel County Councilman Chris Trumbauer at Market House in Annapolis on Friday, May 16th from 7:30 to 9 AM. There will be refreshments, giveaways, free bike safety inspections, and a drawing for a brand new commuter bike and a bicycle rack. Radio station WNAV will broadcast the event live.
