Gayfields Farm / 5109 Mountain Rd. Pasadena, Md. 21122.
Each year for the past 10 plus years, 500-900 people of the Anne Arundel County community have enjoyed coming to Horse Appreciation Day. You may have missed the event last year, but Horse Appreciation Day is back in 2014, the year of the Horse, in conjunction with the Maryland Horse Industry Board!
There is no better way to celebrate the year of the horse than attending Horse Appreciation Day between the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. All are welcome to attend on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at our new stunning location at Gayfields Farm, just before Gibson Island on the right. Gates open at 11:00 am and opening ceremonies begin at noon with a flag ceremony and the National Anthem.
Throughout the day you can watch demos of all different types of riding styles from English, Side Saddle and Western to Jumping, Dressage and Trick Riding! Make your way around the beautiful waterfront farm for a tour of the barn, live demonstrations by the Farrier for horse shoeing and hoof trimming, the Equine dentist, horse grooming, shopping and browsing the vendor booths and having a bite for lunch. Since the event is in the middle of the Triple Crown races, you can test out a race horse simulator and see if you have the muscles it takes to be a jockey! The kids can enjoy a free pony ride, a moon bounce, getting their faces painted, making stick horses with the Maryland Horse Industry Board, and various other games and activities!
