Analog Cell Phones

Image: Outdated Note

If you or someone you know has an older, analog cell phone, 911 access may be lost as of February 19, 2008. This is an important issue for our seniors who have received an older phone from the Donated Phone Program. Many of these phones require the analog networks and recipients may not be able to contact 9-1-1. Digital cell phones will not be affected. You can tell if you have a digital phone if it has any of these capabilities: text messaging, internet browsing, MP3 player or camera, SIM card. If your phone is over 5 years old, it is probably an analog phone. If someone can't tell, they should take it to a cellular phone retail location for assistance.
