Anne Arundel County Senior Activity Centers to Open 2 Hours Late Tomorrow (1/24/14) and Serve as Warming Centers

Annapolis, Maryland (January 23, 2014) — The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities will open all seven senior activity centers as warming centers tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The centers will be open to anyone needing shelter from the cold. Due to inclement weather, senior activity centers will not open until 10:00 a.m. 


Transportation to senior activity centers will be available for warming center purposes only. All other Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities Transportation services, with the exception of medical and dialysis appointments, are cancelled. Senior Center Plus and all Nutrition Sites will be closed as well, and lunch at senior activity centers is cancelled. Senior activity center classes beginning at 10:00 a.m. or later will be held as scheduled.

Children visiting warming centers must be supervised by a responsible adult or guardian at all times. Anne Arundel County citizens of all ages needing transportation to warming centers should call the Department of Aging and Disabilities Transportation Program between 10:00a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 410-222-4826.

Senior activity centers that will open as warming centers are as follows:

  • Annapolis Senior Activity Center - 119 South Villa Ave., Annapolis
  • Arnold Senior Activity Center – 44 Church Road, Arnold
  • Brooklyn Park Senior Activity Center - 202 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park
  • O'Malley Senior Activity Center - 1275 Odenton Rd., Odenton
  • Pasadena Senior Activity Center - 4103 Mountain Rd., Pasadena
  • Pascal Senior Activity Center - 125 Dorsey Rd., Glen Burnie
  • South County Senior Center - 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater
